Ballot no. 5

AfD

Alternative für Deutschland

Standing statewide

About the party

The AfD was founded in 2013 and has sat in Berlin’s parliament since 2016. It began with EU-sceptic and economically liberal positions and later concentrated on migration and security; bpb describes its stance as national-conservative to ethnic-nationalist and places it in the right-populist spectrum, and the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution has listed it as a suspected right-wing extremist case since 2021, with a further classification still before the courts. It has been the second-largest party nationally since the 2025 federal election; all other parties rule out cooperating with it.

Positions by theme

The same six themes and the same template as on the Berlin-agenda page: the party’s own chapter title, a neutral summary of that chapter, and a link into the original.

  • Bauen & Wohnen ↗p. 5–10

"Priority for locals": subsidised housing allocated by a points system that combines length of residence in Berlin with income, children, care duties and work in essential services; a rewrite of federal law so that special building rights apply to locals rather than refugee shelters. "The best rent brake is enough supply": less regulation, no expropriation, no rent cap, limits on Milieuschutz, rent subsidies instead of new social housing, and a reintroduced misallocation charge. Promotes ownership with public loan guarantees and no property-transfer tax for local first-time buyers (20% for non-EU investors), wants insulation standards rolled back to early-2000s levels, no solar-retrofit duty, and allotments protected.

  • Transport & mobility

All parties on this theme →

    Verkehr ↗p. 41–44

"Freedom instead of ideology": the car is "part of the solution"; finish the 17th section of the A100 and close the inner motorway ring, restore removed parking spaces, scale parking management back, keep resident parking cheap, no Kiezblocks. The Mobility Act should become an infrastructure act with the priority for walking, cycling and public transport struck out and cycle-network targets cut back; cycle lanes on parallel side streets, markings instead of modal filters. For public transport: staff recruitment, CBTC signalling, cable cars, access barriers for people without tickets, joint security patrols on all U-Bahn lines.

  • Migration & participation

All parties on this theme →

    Zuwanderung, Asyl & Staatsangehörigkeit ↗p. 22–26

A "comprehensive policy of remigration": immediate stop to taking in asylum seekers in Berlin, deportation of all up to 20,000 people obliged to leave, no winter deportation pause, abolition of the hardship commission, a Berlin deportation centre and an LEA renamed for "Einwanderung, Asyl und Remigration". Benefits switched to in-kind only, no language courses for those without a right to stay, work duty for asylum seekers, no new MUF shelters. Naturalisation frozen under a moratorium until all cases since 2024 have been reviewed, in-person checks, citizenship withdrawn from dual nationals convicted of serious crimes; headscarf ban for girls under 14 and at schools.

  • Innere Sicherheit, Justiz & Datenschutz ↗p. 12–19

Attributes crime largely to "uncontrolled migration" and says lasting security requires "consistent remigration". Wants more police, judiciary and fire-service staff, merit-based hiring without quotas, full video surveillance in all hotspot areas, mobile and more fixed police stations, more suspicion-independent checks in "problem districts", night curfews for young repeat offenders, a district police force attached to the Ordnungsämter, repeal of the state anti-discrimination law, criminal responsibility from age 12, adult law from 18, and an absolute mask ban at demonstrations. Rejects knife-ban zones as symbolic and opposes EU "chat control".

  • Alle Energie für Berlin ↗p. 54–55

Calls "Berlin climate-neutral 2045" an ideological prestige project and wants the Berlin Climate Protection and Energy Transition Act replaced by a "Secure Energy Act" measured on supply security, affordability and grid stability. Berlin should keep coal and gas plants and import power, no wind turbines in the city, return to nuclear power federally and make Berlin a centre of nuclear research; cut energy taxes and abolish the CO₂ levy via the Bundesrat.

  • Schule & Bildung ↗p. 27–32

"Education instead of ideology": back to reading, writing and arithmetic, a binding canon of German works, Heimatkunde and crafts in primary school, Religion/Ethics as compulsory electives, grades and repeating years kept, no "gender language" at schools. Keeps the differentiated school system with performance-homogeneous classes, admission by grades and proximity, abolishes the 30% lottery, lifts the cap on grundständige Gymnasien and turns seven into elite schools for the gifted. Special schools preserved, inclusion only where the pupil can reach the school's goal. German as mandatory school language, "German-guarantee classes", a 110% staffing guarantee, class-size caps in law, screen-free primary schools and a smartphone ban.
